Absrtact
The main works of the project include the “establishment and operation of Soil and Groundwater Health Risk Assessment Platform”, “operating meetings about the concerned issues on soil and groundwater health risk assessment”, and “fulfill risk communication to enhance public awareness”. The results are summarized below. The project serves as the think-tank of the "Environmental Impact and Health Risk Assessment Team for Soil and Groundwater Contaminated Sites." During the project period, 5 Committee meetings have been held (including 1 review of the risk assessment case). The theme covers “health risk assessment exposure parameters”, “on-site examination for risk assessment”, “health risk assessment method” ", "risk assessment review process" and "risk communication". During the project period, one seminar on November 8th, 2016, and another 5 half-day training courses on August 29, September 5, and September 8 in 2017 have been held. Experts, scholars, and environmental protection agencies and relevant parties come for the events altogether. It was expected to achieve a better understanding of the spirit and application of risk assessment and risk communication, and to provide an exchange platform for government officials and researchers with a total of some 400 attendances.. Another 300 notebooks and 50 green bags were purchased as conference advocacy products. The project assisted in the compilation of reference manuals for risk communication and provided practical operation guidance. In order to make the content more comprehensive, two expert consultation meetings were held on April 27 and June 21, 2017. Four experts and scholars also helped with the written review. After the agreement was submitted by EPA, 500 copies of the manual were printed, and relevant units were issued for reference. The project assisted planning and maintenance of Risk Assessment for Soil and Groundwater Information Network, updated meeting related information, and distributed electronic layouts related to risk communication, including pollution responsible person version and general public version. The former describes basic risk concept, risk assessment framework and participation. The latter detailed the timeframe of risk communication and the format of the meeting according to the current provisions.
